Abstract
Newly developed muscle relaxant, Tizanidine (Sirdalud¢ç) has unique, pronounced, centra.ly mediated myotonolytic activities with concomitant anitinociceptive properties.
We performed a clinical study to evaluate the actual efficacy and tolerance of this drug, applying to orthopaedic patients with myotonic painful conditions.
Total 30 patients were included in this study, performed from September, 1989 to December, 1988.
The clinical results were as follows
1. There was significant improvement in pain at rest, on movement, at night and on palpation.
2. Marked improvement of muscle tension on palpation was noticed in medicated patients. 3. Side effects were developed in 4 cases ; 2 headache, 1 nausea, and 2 dry mouth, but
all the signs and symptoms were transient and mild in degree.
4. The overall efficacy and tolerance of the drug were 93.1% and 100% respectively.
In conclusion, Sirdalud¢ç has a relatirely good efficacy and tolerance in treating patients with
myotonic pain.
